Sorting Today

We worked on sorting a bit more. On the rug as a group, we demonstrated the activity the children would be doing independently at the table. We had some small construction paper shapes in a variety of colors that the kids would be "sorting" either by color or shape ... or both. They all seemed to understand on the rug as a group. When we got to the table, some got a bit shaken I think. About half did okay on their own. Some started out okay and lost sight. Still others may not have grasped the concept just yet. Totally understandable. It's a tough one. We will continue to work on grouping and sorting in class. Perhaps you can sort stuff at home for reinforcement?

We had music today and the Music Lady sang lots of songs about turkeys! In fact, one was about a turkey who was saved from demise. He got away. Kind of like our turkey's, huh? She sent home a fun paper for the kids to work on and color at home. More about turkeys.

Our sight word this week is "GO". What a fun song that goes with this word! All day long the kids were hearing us say, "Time to GO to lunch" or "Please GO to the rug". They called it out every time. Very fun and very exciting to see them soaking up their education! What a fantastic group!

We made a caterpillar craft that will stay at school and go home in a binder at the end of the year.

A few parents have asked about photos. We take several each day. In the past, we have sent home a handful at the end of the year. This year, we plan to upload to a secure sharing page on Snapfish. You may order any or all the photos you like directly from the sight. When we have that up and running, we will let you know. Gotta do it now or we will be inundated as there are alot!

Have a super Thursday off and we will see you Friday.
